France
Good morning everyone! I am happy to finally be updating ShannyBug.com again! I arrived to Toulouse, France this week to see my friend Pam and can hardly believe that this is my 9th year traveling internationally! For those of you who haven't heard my plan, it is to travel the world for the next year! I plan to use ShannyBug.com to keep friends and family updated on where I am and what I am doing there. It will be a constant work in progress but I hope you all enjoy! Anyone interested in joining me in any of the cities I am headed to, is more than welcome to! I hope to have a more concrete plan available soon for those of you that are! (Wow, that's a lot of exclamation points... I'll try to get my excitement under control!)
Couldn't sleep in today despite the late night of chatting and sipping wine. After a walk around the Toulouse capital building last night we returned home and put on a pot of my mother's recipe for chicken soup. It was delicious and warmed us up but always better when mom makes it! After making the weakest pot of coffee of my entire life this morning, we're off to the train station, destination Carcassonne.
We made it to Carcassonne on Saturday. We explored the old city and learned that double walls were the key to protecting your city back in the day. Pam and I had fun envisioning Princess Kati living there and the knights of the day running around the city. It was a quick 45 minute train ride and we got see the beautiful countryside along the way. We snacked on cookies and sipped some coffee and wine. It was a very chilly day and I am very thankful that Pam was able to pack a hat and a pair of gloves to keep me warm!
Sunday we had big plans for a wonderful dinner at home only to find out none of the grocery stores were open so we had to make due with what we could find! No worries though we were able to get the essentials... Wine, cheese and bread! We watched a few movies and slipped over to the Melting Pot to have a few Guinness in honor of St Patrick\'s Day. We\'re still unsure if it was the green hair or the language barrier but we were able to score 3 for 1 beer on the first round!
Today I am working on laundry and repacking. Also I am getting Flat Dani prepared for her trip home tomorrow... That sneak made it all the way to France! Plans after that are to get pictures added to ShannyBug.com but you can see some for now on Facebook.
