Border Run My visa for Thailand expires tomorrow and I decided to stay at the Safari one more week so I needed to run for the border to get renewed. It was a wonderful drive; an hour plus on the scooter. After a big gust of wind almost pulled me off the road the first 5 minutes of the drive, and I survived it, I felt confident to go the whole way. After a quick stop by the scooter office in Kanchanaburi to pick up my passport, we were on our way! It was the quickest and strangest visit to another country I have ever been on. Once we were stamped out of Thailand a well tinted windowed truck drove us to the the Myanmar immigration office 10 minutes away. We weren't allowed out of the truck even when I asked to get out and snap a quick pick with the flag right next to us. I managed to snap this selfie with the flag out of the back window. 10 minutes later, we were back in Thailand. It was worth the trip; I was surprised with a 30 day extension instead of 15 and all for only 700 bhat!
Lock Down We arrived to Mandalay today! It is a much bigger city than I imagined. There seems to have been some trouble in the past few days though and the city is shut down after 9pm. Martial Law; who knew!
Longyi Lessons It was the first big outing to the temples of Myanmar today. Harry borrowed a longyi to cover his gams so as not to offend Buddha while we looked around. After our tour he decided he liked it so much that he bought it off the lady. Wonderful purchase that came with a free tying lesson!
